Bike/Hike 2007:
This was our very first Bike/Hike event. Our goal was for the participants to collectively reach 2,350 - the distance between Wisconsin and Nicaragua - and they did! Our Grand Prize Winner was Carrie Massnick, Wausau. She won the new Lime bicycle, donated by Trek Bicycles and valued at more than $500. (For a look at this terrific, automatic shift bike, click on this link, http://www.trekbikes.com/lime) Below are photos from the event and quotes by some of the folks who participated.

Quote from the Managua office:
This morning Jilma Ramos and Reyneris from Las Lagunas delivered donations and documents of all 21 participants there. They showed that working together we can do it. They gathered from C$1.00 to C$25.00 cords from people there and together they could reached to have 21 t-shirts, which is the amount they took with them today. The total amount of Kms biked/hiked at Las Lagunas was of 647. Thanks to all the students, teachers, families and community groups they could reach this amount of kms.

The staff is also involved with this event. Each one of us has a goal of getting donations for 150 kms. In my case I have done more than 150 Kms. - Mirna Angulo, Managua Office

Quote from Appleton, Wisconsin:
Appleton has 51 students registered!!

UPDATE FROM APPLETON: Our cross country students who have signed up for the event are running their daily miles. We have girls on the swim team who are swimming extra laps in the morning. We have football, soccer, volleyball, etc players doing extra running for practices. Also small groups of students are getting together on the weekends to do some biking.
