Program Advancement
· Agriculture/Natural Resources
The idea of the square meter garden is that using only one square meter, an individual can feed himself a nourishing and diverse diet indefinitely.
· Health
W/NP continues to focus on the area of maternal and child health as one of twenty-nine non-governmental organizations belonging to the NicaSalud Network.
· Humanitarian Assistance
Article 121 of Nicaragua's Constitution states that "access to education is free and equal for all Nicaraguans," and that "basic education is free and mandatory."
· Intercultural Exchange
W/NP believes that people-to-people linkages between countries are the bridge to global peace and that the volunteer base is the life blood of this organization.
· Women In Development
The Learning Centers program organizes low-income women into cooperatives which then take on small-scale, self-sustaining income generation projects.
· Partner Cities
The Partner Cities program was inaugurated in 1974 when Fort Atkinson formalized its relationship with the Atlantic coast town of Puerto Cabezas.
