Wisconsin/Nicaragua Partners of the Americas, Inc. is a not-for-profit, non-political organization working to enhance the quality of life in both Wisconsin and Nicaragua through people-to-people programs promoting cultural awareness and sustainable community development.

Facts On Nicaragua
Following is important information regarding health and income in Nicaragua:
  • four out of every 100 children will not celebrate their first birthday;
  • 55% of the survivors will suffer from anemia by the time they are two years old;
  • approximately 20% of children under five will be chronically malnourished or stunted and likely to suffer from slow physical, mental, social, and emotional development into adulthood;
  • by age nineteen, half of all Nicaraguan women have had at least one pregnancy;
  • the maternal mortality rate is among the highest in Latin America;
  • Nicaragua is the poorest country in the western hemisphere.
