Submission: Susan Riley
As an eye cancer survivor, I know how important it is for everyone worldwide to be wearing protective sunglasses. That is why I chose to start the Sunglasses Project. We have collected over 800 pairs so far but still have a long way to go. Each pair has the tags removed, is cleaned, and is placed into a sandwich bag for delivery to the Learning Centers in Nicaragua.
I am very pleased to see Wisconsinites who are willing to help out the Partner City program with another project. Clintonville has started collecting at several locations, and we would appreciate any other community support as well. New and gently used sunglasses with UV protection are being collected in support of the project. Dollar stores, as in $1 maximum, seem to be perfect to find sunglasses, as all have UV protection. Sunglasses may be dropped off at the W/NP office at any time or brought to the September 18 meeting. If anyone needs to make other arrangements, please email
